The annual DAF Apprentice Graduation and Apprentice of the Year competition took place on Friday 2nd November, with our apprentices doing themselves and the entire Ford & Slater network proud.
The event, which took place at Celtic Manor hotel, is a double celebration: it is the graduation ceremony for all final-year apprentices and is also the prestigious apprentice of the year awards. Earlier in the day the top 10 apprentices from the first, second and third year groups compete in a series of technical assessments, with the final results announced at the evening event.
Graduating for Ford & Slater were:
Aidan Raynor – Coventry
Sonny Meijer – Kings Lynn
Liam Cooper – Leicester
Gvido Treisners – Leicester
Connor Wilson – Lincoln
Harry Jones - Spalding
Charlie Gasser – Norwich
Jack Parnell – Norwich
Mike Buck – Wisbech
We also had an incredible six apprentices representing the Ford & Slater network across all three year groups in the Apprentice of the Year competition. All our finalists put in an impressive display and special mention has to go to Owen Smith (3rd place – 1st year), Sonny Meijer (3rd place – 3rd year) and Aaron Wild who won 1st year Apprentice of the Year!

Recently graduated Ford & Slater technicians Andrew Mason, Tom Rowe and Sam Stratford also received their 4th year IMI Management Certificates.
Kings Lynn apprentice Sonny Meijer also gave a speech on behalf of the graduates during the event. Sonny addressed the room of almost 500 parents, dealers and DAF Trucks employees with a confident and engaging presentation.
We are incredibly passionate about the recruitment and development of apprentices within Ford & Slater and the wider DAF organisation and we would like to congratulate all of those who were recognised during the night.
