Haulage company, Slam Transport, has recently taken delivery of twenty-five DAF XF tractor units from Ford & Slater Coventry, with a further ten to be delivered over the next couple of months. This is the second delivery made to Slam in the last 18 months, following a delivery of seventeen units in 2016.
Slam Transport co-owner, Danny Gould, originally approached Ford & Slater when looking to switch their fleet from one manufacturer to another. Danny explains, “We spent a lot of time trialling various makes and models for our fleet but were always let down one way or another. With the DAF trucks, it has been an entirely different matter – our drivers are happy with the DAF XFs and if they are happy, so are we!”
Once the management team and drivers had agreed on DAF as their manufacturer of choice, they contacted Ford & Slater. Danny Gould continued, “When purchasing a new truck, our top priority is to look at is fuel efficiency – first and foremost. We also take into consideration; comfort and reliability – both of which we’ve been impressed with so far”.
The thirty-five new Euro 6 tractor units come in full Slam Transport livery, with MX engine brake and air-conditioning as standard, complete with a Ford & Slater R&M package. They join a mixed fleet of seventy-five trucks which are used to transport products for various internet retailers between UK fulfilment centres.
Danny Gould concludes, “In the short time we have worked with them, we’ve found Ford & Slater to be a great company and we have a fantastic relationship with them. The sales team has bent over backwards to support us and we couldn’t praise them enough - which is why we have purchased fifty-two trucks from them in the last 18 months and are looking to purchase more!”.
